Latest Release - 5 Dec 2024 - Upnor Castle

This is a design by Banwy Models of the Planet diesel Upnor Castle as it was on the Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway between 1962 and 1968. It also ran in this condition on the Chattenden and Upnor Railway as well as the Ffestiniog Railway prior to its rebuilding.

The print is designed to fit a Tomytec HM-01 chassis with only minor modifications. The HM-01 is out of production but the TR-02 can be made to fit by removing the stretchers inside the body and fitting two supports that slot between the weights and the motor of the TR-02. the longer term plan is to revisit the design and change the mounting to exactly fit the TR-02.

5 Dec 2024 - EU and Northern Ireland Shipping Changes

Sadly, like most other small vendors, I am withdrawing from selling to Europe and Northern Ireland due to the EU GPSR legislation coming into force next week. This legislation is designed to prevent sub quality imports to the EU but is unfortunately catching small vendors like myself. Until such time as we can work out how to satisfy the legislation I will have to cease trading with those areas.

Hopefully next year there will be a mechanism that makes it cost effective to sell there again. My apologies to those of you who have bought from me from those areas.

I have removed the ability to ship to Europe. I cannot separate Northern Ireland from UK shipping so if anyone does order from Northern Ireland I will simply refund their money.

L&B Acetylene Generator

New Release - 27 Nov 2024 - Lynton & Barnstaple Acetylene Generators

On my to do list for far too long has been the Acetylene Generators for the coaches of the Lynton & Barnstaple Railway. As I am attending the 009 Members Day down in Abbotskerswell on Saturday, it seemed fitting that I should get them finished. So here they are! They are available in 4mm and 7mm and come in a pack of 10 (well actually 12) but there are enough for 10 coaches.

Finally, I can announce the major change for this year. I was recently contacted by Dave Gauntlett of Banwy Models. He has been a prolific designer of Welshpool & Llanfair stock which he sold through Shapeways. When Shapeways folded, he decided to call it a day and offered his designs to me to continue the WLLR work that I have been doing.

I have agreed to take them on, print them on my machines and make them available to buy.

I am immensely grateful that Dave considered me to continue his work.

As part of the transfer I am going to make a donation to the WLLR for every item sold.

New Release - 12 Nov 2024 - Multiple Products

Torpedo and Shell vents

These vents are generic designs that could be used on any coaches. The torpedo vents are sized by the distance over the cones and the nominal centre diameter. They range from 4mm x 2mm down to 2mm x 1mm. The 4mm x 2mm ones have been used on 4mm scale coaches. The shell vents are sized by their nominal diameter and range from 3mm down to 1mm. 3mm or 2.5mm diameter vents would be suitable for 4mm coaches. It is about what looks right!

Lynton & Barnstaple Oil & Acetylene lamps available in 7mm

These popular lamps have now been made available in 7mm scale. They are the same design as the 4mm version and have a 1.5mm diameter spigot which can easily be removed if you prefer not to drill the roof of your coach.

Welshpool Pickering Bogies

New Release - 10 Oct 2024 - Welshpool Pickering Bogies

The latest release is a pair of Pickering bogies to complement the Worsley Works or Golden Arrow Kits

This kit contains sufficient parts to build two bogies to fit the Pickering coaches. The kit contains:

The etch has a tang to which a coupling can be attached. Tested with Worsley Works coaches the bogies can negotiate 18" curves with ease. Tighter radii can be negotiated by filing off enough of the print at the point where it fouls the coach superstructure. How much will depend on the radii required and the construction of the coach.

New Release - 28 Sep 2024 - Leek & Manifold Transporter Wagons

The latest release is a range of Leek & Manifold Transporter Wagons

These kits represent the different forms of transporter wagon as supplied to the Leek & Manifold Railway. There are 3 kits to represent the 4 different forms:

  1. Original 1904 version
  2. 1907 modified version with rail folded down
  3. 1907 modified version with rail folded up
  4. Extended version made from one of the 1907 version

Kits are for versions 1, 3 and 4. Version 2 can be achieved by adding some plastic or brass angle to the running plate of version 1
